Bergedent Dental Clinic is located in Vadistanbul, on the European side of Istanbul. Getting there from either of Istanbul's two airports is straightforward, but the airport you fly into makes a significant difference to journey time.

Istanbul Airport (IST) — Main International Hub

Istanbul Airport (IST) is on the European side, approximately 45–65 minutes by road from Vadistanbul depending on traffic. This is the airport served by most UK carriers including British Airways, Turkish Airlines, and EasyJet from London Gatwick.

  • Taxi: Licensed taxis from IST are metered. Expect to pay 400–500 Turkish Lira (approximately £12–15). Always use the official taxi queue outside arrivals, not touts inside the terminal.
  • Private transfer: Many hotels and clinics offer a private airport transfer service. Bergedent's patient coordination team can arrange this — ask when booking. Typical cost €20–30 including waiting time.
  • Airport bus (Havabus): The Havabus airport express connects IST to Mecidiyeköy and Taksim. From Mecidiyeköy you can take a short taxi or rideshare to Vadistanbul.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) — Asian Side

SAW is on the Asian side of Istanbul. Despite being further in distance, journey times can be similar to IST during off-peak hours because the route avoids central Istanbul congestion. SAW is served by Pegasus Airlines from many UK regional airports.

  • Taxi: Expect 60–90 minutes crossing the Bosphorus bridge to Vadistanbul. Metered taxi cost approximately 600–800 TL (£18–24).
  • Bus + Metro: Havabus from SAW to Kadıköy, then take the Marmaray rail under the Bosphorus to Yenikapı, then metro towards Olimpiyat — journey is roughly 90 minutes but significantly cheaper.

Which Airport Should You Book?

If you are flying from London and have a choice: IST is generally closer and more convenient. If you are coming from a regional UK airport (Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh), SAW may have cheaper fares via Pegasus — the slightly longer transfer is worth the saving.

Hotel Recommendations Near Bergedent

The Vadistanbul area (Ayazağa neighbourhood, on the metro line) has several good options within 5–10 minutes of the clinic:

  • Novotel Istanbul Bosphorus — 4-star, reliable international chain
  • Ramada by Wyndham Istanbul Florya — good value, 10–15 min from clinic
  • Hilton Istanbul Kozyatagi — higher end, popular with dental travel patients

Budget option: Many patients book apartments through Airbnb or Booking.com in the Levent area, 10 minutes from the clinic by metro. Budget £40–60 per night for a comfortable studio.

Getting Around During Your Stay

Istanbul's metro (M2 line) runs from the airport through the clinic's area and into central Istanbul. An Istanbulkart prepaid travel card costs around 100 TL (£3) and can be topped up at any metro station. A single metro journey costs around 20 TL (60p). Taxis and Uber are also widely available and inexpensive by UK standards.
